LEST WE FORGET

So, Easter is behind us and there’s another holiday coming up in three days with Anzac Day. And that means a lot to me for several reasons.

This time last year I was privileged to be at Gallipoli. At Anzac Cove for the Dawn Service.

And when you stand there -- in the cold, on the stony beach and look up at the cliffs -- it really hits you. Those incredibly brave Diggers never had an effing chance.

But they held on for eight months. And the Turks were brave too.

Anzac Day 2003 means even more to me because I have been involved in a project for four years that came true last night when the first box of Slouch Hat chocolates was delivered to my door.

With the support of the RSL I launched them on Bert Newton’s programme on the Ten Network this morning – and on 3AW this afternoon.

You can support our troops who are fighting overseas right now --you can support the RSL -- by buying these boxes of chocolates with each piece in the shape of the famous Slouch Hat. Right down to the intricacies of the Rising Sun badge.

ALL profits during Anzac Week go to the RSL. And I am hoping to raise $50,000.

There are boxes of forty, individually-wrapped, chocolates. You can buy them directly through this website – see Slouch Hat Chocolates down the page. They cost ten dollars and $3 postage and handling. Australia Post is actually charging even more than that.

Or you can order through:

SweetOz Distribution
Factory 4
51 Reserve Road
Melton Vic 3337

Or – boxes of chocolates for ten bucks will be available at 3AW on Thursday. Great value. Forty chocolates. Ten Bucks. If you own a company, buy ten boxes for 100 dollars and sell them to staff or the public at 3 chocolates for a dollar. You’ll make a 30 per cent profit. And maybe you’ll give some of it back to me for the RSL.

And they are made by Ernest Hillier, one of the best chocolates makers in Australia.

ALL profits go to the RSL and we have the support of every RSL state president. I am really proud of this project.

This is a shameless sell. But as the words on the box say: Support Our Troops. Support Our RSL. Lest We Forget.
