SADLY,
YESTERDAY’S NEWS
A stark and cruel reminder about “ yesterday’s news”
on my 3AW radio programme last Friday. Sad proof of the adage that
you can be a newspaper headline one day and a fish and chip wrapper
the next.
There is an Australian woman still battling for her life and sanity
nearly six months after the Bali bombing.
She is 30-year-old, mother of two, Therese Fox. She is the last
Bali victim still in hospital – the Burns Unit at the Alfred
Hospital in Melbourne.
Therese had burns to 85% of her body. Some have become re-infected.
Her pain is still almost unbearable.
A friend called me on air looking for help, encouragement and support.
To let Therese know that there are people out there who remember
her and do care about her.
Listeners proved they do. They offered money. One offered to tint
her car windows (an expensive must for burn victims in summer),
another to clean her carpets.
You can show your support for Therese by sending her an e-card
by logging onto the Alfred Hospital website at www.alfred.org.au
and following the links
Send donations for Therese Fox to:
Therese Fox Family Trust
c/- Bendigo Bank

(Receipts can be requested)
Donations can also be made at any branch of the Bendigo Bank
Or just a card to her at the Alfred:

The Alfred Hospital

The hospital has asked that you don’t send flowers. The Burns
Unit is a medically sterile environment.
Help prove that the community is not a sterile environment when
it comes to supporting a young mother who needs our help.
