thugs. cowardly thugs
There was sickening and brutal footage on the TV news last night – and the images are captured in the news today. It followed the court appearances of the alleged terrorists seized in raids in Melbourne and Sydney in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Supporters of the men accused of planning a jihad, or so-called holy war, here in Australia brutally attacked TV cameramen outside the court. Cameramen who were merely doing their job.
There was one telling photo in the Herald Sun today. It showed Channel Seven cameraman Matt Rose on his knees. A big brave lout wearing an Islamic skull cap is literally putting the boot into him. Kicking a defenceless man. But look more closely at the photo on Page Three of the Herald Sun. In the left hand corner of the picture there is another man with sheer glee on his face as the boot goes in. There is another shot of a clearly identifiable bearded man about to try to king hit the cameraman.
And you have to ask yourself: what sort of people are these? This is a religion? Does the Koran teach them this? You can understand the fear and the frustration of law-abiding Australian Muslims who want a better and tranquil life. Such thuggery makes life tougher for any Muslim woman who wears a head scarf in public.
One e-mail I received overnight said:
“Question: will these men be charged over the fight at the courts today? They should be and given tough time in jail.”
He’s right. I hope Police are already poring over video tapes and still photos to identify these cowardly thugs and charge them with assault and public affray.
And I hope the cameraman – backed by the Seven Network – launches a civil action against these louts for medical expenses and damages. Hurt them in the pocket. And, if they are charged and convicted, and they not Australian citizens then deport the trash.
