RODNEY COCKS UP

Yesterday on the programme I told you about Mr. Rodney Cocks – described in today’s Herald Sun as ‘Labor’s star candidate for La Trobe’.

Well, I’m not sure his star is shining that brightly after I revealed the discrepancy, no let’s be honest, the blatant lie, in his latest gushing letter to the electorate.

He said he understood the frustration and the pain inflicted on families by  John Howard’s ‘deceit’ over interest rates.

But talking of deceit. Cocks said, and I quote, ‘as a father with a mortgage I understand their frustration at being deceived by John Howard…’

As I revealed yesterday: Cocks is not a father. His colourful and impressive bio on the Internet doesn’t even give us a clue as to whether or not he is even married.

And it got me thinking if you would lie about this what else would you lie about?

What pisses me off about this is not only the con to woo  the voters it is the fact that he hasn’t  even owned up to it. A campaign spokesman, Kosmos Samaras, did confirm that Cocks does not have children but then tried to spin his way out of it.

He said ‘It was a typo on our behalf’. Now if Kosmos thinks we’ll believe that then he is aptly named. He IS off the planet. It wasn’t a typo – a typographical error. That’s when you making a typing error and transpose an ‘e’ for an ‘a’ or an ‘o’ for an ‘e’ or type 2006 and it comes out 2007.

Inventing kids you don’t have to pretend to would be voters that you share their pain is not a typo – it is a lie. And remember Rodney Cocks signed that letter with gusto.  Just above where he invited you to phone his electoral office and discuss it.

We tried. But to no avail.

I don’t care if Cocks is a Labor candidate or a Liberal or a Green. He’s cocked up and should own up.

Sadly most people these days believe that politicians lie once they get in office. And there’s not much they can do about it. The same thing does not apply when somebody lies before he gets across the line.
