DEPORT HIM

That Muslim extremist Abdul Benbrika, who went by the name of Sheik Abu Bakr and who cloaked his hatred in a violent interpretation of his religion, has now been jailed for a minimum of 12 years for running a terrorist group here in Melbourne and of plotting terrorist acts here. This is the dangerous zealot who was caught on phone taps saying things like ‘If we want to die for jihad we have to do maximum damage. Damage their buildings with everything, and damage their lives, just to show them.’ He also said ‘If they kill our kids, we kill, little kids.’

Benbrika told his followers they should kill a thousand Australians. And there was evidence at his trial that the gang planned to attack the MCG when there were about 100,000 fans there for the 2005 Grand Final.  And attack Crown Casino during the  2006 Grand Prix. Those attacks, of course, did not come off. And some of the evidence came from a Benbrika gang member the judge called ‘an admitted liar, conman and fraudster.’

But let’s look more closely again at Benbrika. A man who said he loved
‘the Australian lifestyle’. And why wouldn’t he? He’s been here nearly 20 years – mostly illegally -- and has never held a job. Never.

He’s lived off you the taxpayer. He’s been a bludger. And he should never have been allowed to stay here from the time he over-stayed a temporary entry permit in 1989. Twenty years ago!  He was ordered out of Australia in  1990 and in 1994 and again in 1995. As I said when he was convicted last year:

He conveniently married a 20-year-old Lebanese woman, Rakia Abdallah, in August 1992 – while he was still an illegal immigrant and she had been an Australian citizen for only a few months.  And she became a baby factory for him with seven kids. Drawing benefits eventually of around $60,000 a year. For a while he received a disability pension for ‘stomach problems’ No wonder he wasn’t working. And had all that time to plot the downfall of this evil system that he has happily bludged off for so long.

His own lawyer submitted to the Supreme Court that ‘employment positions were not readily available, so with more idle time Benbrika spent  more of each day immersed in religious texts’. Plotting our downfall at taxpayers’ expense.

He also exploited the system by using new immigration laws that allowed  illegal immigrants to apply for a permanent visa if they were in a relationship with an Australian citizen as long as the relationship was in existence in 1990.

Rakia Abdullah did not become an Australian citizen until 1991. And, it turned out, they had not even met in 1990 let alone been  in a relationship.

Benbrika was ordered out for a third time in 1995 but somehow managed to  con Immigration Department officials and get a permanent visa.

I believe he is here illegally. Got his residency under false pretences. When he’s done his time Benbrika should be should be deported. Let him preach his hatred back in Algeria. And good riddance.
