Veteran broadcaster Derryn Hinch, 3AW’s Drive program host and author of the daily Hinch Says editorials on this website, has won the 2009 award for the Best Talk Presenter at the industry’s national convention in Sydney.

In 2008 he won the national award for Best  Current Affairs  Commentator.

Hinch, who was a presenter at the ACRAs (Australian Commercial Radio Awards) said he was genuinely surprised to beat 3AW stablemate Neil Mitchell and Sydney’s top-rating Ray Hadley from 2GB.

Hamish and Andy continued their steanmroller ride, winning another swag including best on-air team plus best networked program, best station promotion and best on-air team producer for Sam Cavanagh.

Hinch, who comes in No.2 behind Hamish and Andy in Melbourne said he has a secret weapon for next year.

‘Andy used to live in my apartment building. He moved out last week. Now I’m working on getting him to move out of my time slot.
